Bad Moon Rising

So I hope everybody had a good Christmas... As I opened my presents on Christmas Morning, I had a pleasant surprise, a rather large Square box with a distinctive rattle. My mum, the sly devil had remembered a conversation we had had a few months back about a particular Ork Forge World Kit, with some particularly quirky rules. Now, as you are probably aware my plan for my Ork Horde, is to have several army lists, based upon the different Klans, which I will be able to pool together for a Mighty Ork Waaagh for Apocalypse Games. With my new kit, I have started work on the third Ork Klan, The Bad Moons, whose army list will be based upon a specific piece of fluff from the current codex:

898.M41 - The Mighty Mangler's Battle Wagon Brigade

The Mighty Mangler of Bork, a Warboss renowned for being particularly pig-headed launches his Waaagh! from the head of a vast brigade of battlewagons. Each vehicle is incredibly well-armoured, and the ground shakes when his brigade is on the move. To the dismay of the Imperial armies sent to intercept him, the Mighty Mangler lives up to his name. Waaagh! Bork collapses the defences of the Ghoul Stars and claims a great area of the galactic fringe.

Now of course, the idea of a mass army of Battlewagons appealed greatly to me. I mean who wouldn't like the idea of five or more Battle Wagons crushing their way through their opponents army. As such, I decided  a little more research was needed, this was when I stumble upon some material on Lexicanum, originally from White Dwarf 349, in which, it was revealed that Bork was a planet and the Warboss was called Klawjaw...

I'm sure you all have seen where this is going, I present to you a rough version of The Mighty Mangler's Battlewagon Brigade at 2000 pts

Warboss Klawjaw
-  Mega Armour, Attack Squig and Cybork Body
125 pts
Big Mek Gutsneak
-          Kustom Force Field, ‘Eavy Armour, Cybork Body

And now, for the first of the Battlewagon Brigade, the Lifta Wagon:

I mean, who wouldn't want to use this thing to throw enemy tanks across the Battlefield?
This thing is huge, the Gun is so nice and detailed and for once, wasn't actually that bad to put together (except for the Mek at the back, who almost went flying across the room a couple of times)

This beast is so big, it requires two spotters...

Grot Rigger Anybody?
This 2000 point will undoubtedly not be where this army ends, I already want to add a couple of looted Baneblades... but we'll see

As The War Machine Keeps Turning

Is it so? Can it Be?

Yes another update... I was going to keep this back until after Christmas, and probably after it was all painted up, but... I really wanted to show this off.

Big Mek Gubbinz has been tinkering with those Bloody Deffkoptas
It wont lie, I may have 'borrowed' this idea from someone else on the internet, Burntcustard on the Dakka Dakka forums, but the idea just appealed to me and I knew I had to make my own...

This is in no means complete yet, I still need to add the weapons and probably a pair of wings, but I haven't gotten round to it yet...

Aces High!
Although, they are such small machines, they probably could get away without a pair of wings on the sides, but then where will I put their guns...

Obligatory Comparison Shot...

between the Grots and tinkering with the flyboyz I even found time to add a few more normal shoota boyz to my ranks...
Between the Grots and tinkering with the Flyboyz, I even found time to a few more shoota boyz to the ranks of the Deathskulls...

Lots of Dakka!
Oh and started working on Boar Boyz 6-10

It's a Grot's Life

Welcome back folks,

I know, I know, it's been a couple of weeks since the last post, my bad, something known as real-life has gotten in the way of me updating this thing (I know, how dare it!) what with it being Christmas and all, but ahhhh well!

that is not to say I haven't been busy, the Snakebite camp is teeming with little ankle biters, as I finally got round to building the mass that is the first Grot Unit in my army:
Don't make fun of the little people!
18 Grots with one Slaver, this unit is basically a cheap throw-away scoring unit, these guys are only 64 pts! I don't expect them to do much, except sit on an objective and hopefully not get shot, I'm under no illusions these guys will probably be going to ground for the most of the game, but if I can divert the enemies attention with the hordes of Ork's piling their way, I'm hoping they might bag the odd game or two

Obviously, because this is a Snakebite list, Grots will be rather common place. For starters, more of the little bastards will be manning these machines.

Ork's are the Pikies of the 40K universe, hence the 'acquired' IG missiles
the two model's above, from the Warhammer Orcs and Goblins range are going the snakebite's answer to Kannons, again another cheap and cheerful choice, they fit in with the fluff of the Snakebites and I'm hoping with a bit of luck these guys will be blowing chunks out of the enemy, quickly earning their points back...

Of course in higher point's limits there will be more units of these little critters running about, and no prizes for guessing how I am going to model the Lobbas (eventually)

In The Mek's Workshop

So as I sat at my Paint Station on Wednesday Night, I had the urge to build something a little... different. Sorting Ork Bitz into their relevant Box, I was clipping the left over bitz from the gretchin sprues, and looked over the Grot-prods which I was yet to use

Immediately 'Inspurashun' struck and twenty/thirty minutes later this was sat in front of me

Big Mek Gubbinz of the Death Skull Klan
I present to you, Big Mek Gubbinz with his Kustom Force Field and Burna, and the first of the Death Skull contingent I am planning on. He will be a Defensive Character, providing cover for his Loota Boyz and a counter in case the enemy get too near for his liking

Alas, Orks are very rarely (if ever) found alone and in the next few days more boyz from the Deathskull Clan were being built.

Ork Boyz/Ard Boyz
The first of a Unit of Ork Boyz, embellished with Space Marine Shoulder Pads and extra Armour, I intend on being able to use these as either a normal unit or 'Ard Boyz' if I want to 'splash' the extra points upon them.

What Kind of Death Skull Army doesn't have at least one unit of Lootas
A Unit of Ork Lootas that need a re-spray and painting up in the relevant Colours, two of these units will form the crux of the Deathskull clan, providing a mass of S7 AP4 shots when on the table top.

And honestly, who doesn't like a unit of pyromaniacs?
The last elite choice will be taken up by a unit of Burna Boyz, partly because they are awesome, and partly because the bitz come in the loota boxes and thus it would be rude not too...

more on these guys soon, I promise...

Even a Cyboar riding bad-ass needs mates right?

So, as promised, Post number Two

The Ork Waaagh continues to grow as work continues on the Snakebite Clan, the Boar Boyz, Spear Chucka and Grotz are all in different stages of assembly, while purchase for other clans have already started (naughty, naughty)

Now obviously, the Boar riders are easily the most iconic unit related to the Snakebite Clan and while they do not feature in the Ork Codex *grumble grumble* it is easy to represent them with Warbikers, and as any respectable Snakebite Waaagh, I plan on being able to field several units, with a unit of Cyboar Riding Nobs leading the charge in larger games

Anyway less talk, more photos right?
Boar Boyz - Because Even a Cyboar riding bad-ass needs mates right?
Here we see the first of Hruk Blacktoof's many Ork Boar Boyz, led by their nob with a Big Choppa (no prizes for guess which one that is)

As the Boar Boyz are to be used as Warbikers, you can see they several are armed with Big Shootas (Dakkagun), each Boar Boy will eventually have a Big Shoota, which shall be equipped with a a sight (well an iron sight, cause anymore I feel would go against the Snakebite origins of the unit). This Unit is currently at five strong, but in time I will bring this unit up to full-strength.

Last week, I promised to show the Army List:

Hruk Blacktoof's Snakebite Clan

Hruk Blacktoof
      - Ork Warboss with Cyboar (Warbike and Cyboar Body), Big Choppa and Dave the Attack Squig

Weirdboy
      - Warphead

Huntas (10 Tankbustas)
      - 2 'Tankhammas'

      - 2 'Tankhammas'

Ork Boyz (20)
      - Nob with Big Choppa, Bosspole
      - 2 Big Shootas

Ork Boyz (20)
      - Nob with Big Choppa, Bosspole
      - 2 Big Shootas

Ork Boyz (20)

      - 2 Big Shootas

Grotz Mob (16)

Ork Boar Boyz (7 Warbikers)
      - Ork Nob with Big Choppa, Bosspole

Ork Boar Boyz (7 Warbikers)
      - Ork Nob with Big Choppa, Bosspole

Big Gunz Battery
      - Runtherd
      - 2 Kannons

Big Gunz Battery
      - Runtherd
      - 2 Kannons

Big Gunz Battery
      - Runtherd
      - 2 Lobbas

Now, this unfortunately has been done from memory, because I stupidly managed to loose the word document with the Snakebite Army Lists... Whoops, so the above list may not be 100% accurate

I need to come up with a decent name for the Weirdboy (suggestions welcome) and as you have probably noticed there are two units of Tankbustas in the list (how Unfluffy...) I may, or may not have something up my sleeve for them, but you'll just have to wait to see ;-)

Anyway, I'm gonna shut up now and go back to the Mek's Workshop, I will however leave you with this

This is my Axe, would you like to have a closer look?

3rd Time Lucky

Okay so, here we go again...

Welcome to Heretical Thoughts, my new Warhammer Blog, this is technically its third incarnation, the first got swamped with Chinese Trolls, and the second kind of died because I was lazy, but alas, I'm determined to make this one work.

So with a new Blog, that means only one thing, a new army...

I have decided that i'm going to focus on only two races, both of which greatly appeal to me. The first, as anyone who knows me, is Chaos, an old favourite with my previous Night Lord army. (These guys will be revisited, I promise)

The second, which is where the new army (well technically, it is an old army, but whatever)comes in, which is going to be a mighty Ork Waaaagh!

Now when I say Army... it may be a little bit of an under-exaggeration, as in fact there are going to eventually be several Ork Armies... but without further ado, I present to you my first set of purchases

Oooh Pretty Boxes!
Now, anyone who has good eyesight should be able to see there are a collection of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 boxes there, for Orks...

That's right you guessed it, the Ork Army I'm currently working on is from the Snakebite Clan... now not much of this is built, but I went for the most important person first...

Warboss Hruk Blacktoof on his 'to-be' Cyboar Smasha, with his trusty squig, 'Dave'
Now, this mean son of a bitch, when on the gaming table is played as an Ork Warboss mounted on a Warbike with a Cybork Body (Cyboar... duh!) he is equipped with a Big Choppa and has an attack Squig too :D

Under his command, Blacktoof is going to have a large force of primitive Orks, there is an army list that i am working on but I'll save that until next time.

However, like I said, several Ork Armies, I'm gonna leave you with this image...

Peace Out!
