Coming In Hot...

So, in my last blog, I talked about the future and my Warhammer related 'new years resolutions' the last point that was mentioned was the Crashed Aquila Lander from the Battle of Macragge box-set. Firstly, I said this was no-longer available from Games Workshop... It is, mere hours after posting I discovered it on their website... Whoops! Anyhow, the person who I ordered it from, sold it to me for less than retail price, so I saved myself a few quid... Good news all round.

So my new piece of terrain arrived on Wednesday, and as I set about cleaning up the parts, I released, that I had absolutely no idea as to how I would paint this up... So off to the internet I went! Trawling through pictures of the crashed lander, most of them had a light paint scheme, which did not suit my purposes, I plan to make my first Realms of Battle board a desert scheme, and as such I wanted something that would contrast with the light coloured sand...

All was not lost though, with a little more digging I came across this:

I believe this was a Forge World paint scheme
This immediately struck me as being exactly what I wanted, so I sat there with my laptop and scenery, carefully examining the image to ascertain which parts of the crash would be red and would be black... a few hours later and this is sat in front of me:

And no-longer looking quite so graceful
Please keep in mind that these pictures are a work in progress, the basic scheme is done but it needs several washes and some serious dry-brushing before I will be happy with it.

Even more WIP than the picture before
I'm hoping when these are done they will be very visually striking against the board they are intended for.

In the left hand piece above, I intend to fill the hole, probably with EZ Water or a similar product, which will have lots of black wash in it, the hope is to make it look like fuel that has leaked and pooled amongst the wreckage.

A really boring piece of terrain in comparison...
Anyway, it's not just been about terrain recently, I did also find time to add a little paint to this guy, albeit, only this guy:

Big Mek Gubbinz!

Clever Bitz!

Anyway, until next time,

Ciao!

As The War Machine Keeps Turning

Is it so? Can it Be?

Yes another update... I was going to keep this back until after Christmas, and probably after it was all painted up, but... I really wanted to show this off.

Big Mek Gubbinz has been tinkering with those Bloody Deffkoptas
It wont lie, I may have 'borrowed' this idea from someone else on the internet, Burntcustard on the Dakka Dakka forums, but the idea just appealed to me and I knew I had to make my own...

This is in no means complete yet, I still need to add the weapons and probably a pair of wings, but I haven't gotten round to it yet...

Aces High!
Although, they are such small machines, they probably could get away without a pair of wings on the sides, but then where will I put their guns...

Obligatory Comparison Shot...

between the Grots and tinkering with the flyboyz I even found time to add a few more normal shoota boyz to my ranks...
Between the Grots and tinkering with the Flyboyz, I even found time to a few more shoota boyz to the ranks of the Deathskulls...

Lots of Dakka!
Oh and started working on Boar Boyz 6-10

In The Mek's Workshop

So as I sat at my Paint Station on Wednesday Night, I had the urge to build something a little... different. Sorting Ork Bitz into their relevant Box, I was clipping the left over bitz from the gretchin sprues, and looked over the Grot-prods which I was yet to use

Immediately 'Inspurashun' struck and twenty/thirty minutes later this was sat in front of me

Big Mek Gubbinz of the Death Skull Klan
I present to you, Big Mek Gubbinz with his Kustom Force Field and Burna, and the first of the Death Skull contingent I am planning on. He will be a Defensive Character, providing cover for his Loota Boyz and a counter in case the enemy get too near for his liking

Alas, Orks are very rarely (if ever) found alone and in the next few days more boyz from the Deathskull Clan were being built.

Ork Boyz/Ard Boyz
The first of a Unit of Ork Boyz, embellished with Space Marine Shoulder Pads and extra Armour, I intend on being able to use these as either a normal unit or 'Ard Boyz' if I want to 'splash' the extra points upon them.

What Kind of Death Skull Army doesn't have at least one unit of Lootas
A Unit of Ork Lootas that need a re-spray and painting up in the relevant Colours, two of these units will form the crux of the Deathskull clan, providing a mass of S7 AP4 shots when on the table top.

And honestly, who doesn't like a unit of pyromaniacs?
The last elite choice will be taken up by a unit of Burna Boyz, partly because they are awesome, and partly because the bitz come in the loota boxes and thus it would be rude not too...

more on these guys soon, I promise...
